Why ask?
When two providers quote different figures for the same transfer, the gap usually comes from scope: one includes waiting and tolls, the other does not.
- What is included? Vehicle, crew, fuel, bridge and motorway tolls.
- Which vehicle and crew? Transfer or emergency ambulance, and how many staff.
- How is waiting charged? Is there a free period?
- Is there a surcharge for building access? Upper floors without a lift, extra staff.
- Is the companion charged?
- What if the plan changes? A different hospital, a refused admission, a delay to the next day.
- Cancellation and postponement terms?
- Payment and invoice? Check what your insurer needs if you have ambulance cover.
Private ambulance providers must be licensed by the Ministry of Health; asking to confirm this is entirely reasonable. Equalise the scope first, then compare figures. See how fees are set.
