Where the difficulty lies
The hardest part of a transfer is often inside the building, not on the road. A standard ambulance stretcher cannot turn on narrow apartment stairs or fit small lifts — common in the old quarters of Süleymanpaşa and in some four- and five-storey blocks in Çorlu and Kapaklı.
| Method | When used |
|---|---|
| Main stretcher | Wide lift or ground floor |
| Carry chair | Patient can sit; narrow stairs and landings |
| Scoop stretcher or spine board | Patient cannot sit; spine or hip injury |
| Soft stretcher | Very tight spaces, short distances |
Tell the crew in advance
Floor, whether there is a working lift and its size, straight or spiral stairs, the patient’s approximate weight, whether they can sit, and how close the vehicle can park. Photos of the stairs and lift sent by WhatsApp help.
At home
Clear the route from the bedroom to the front door, ask neighbours to keep the stairs free, check the stair lighting and keep pets in another room. Untrained relatives should not lift; holding doors and carrying belongings is the most useful help.
